— UPDATE 2: He's caught.

This story, about a thug who robbed the Conoco Quick Stop at 11366 Emerald Street by pouring coffee in the clerk's face, videotaped on the store's surveillance camera, seems rife with stupid-coffee-joke potential. (And lest you think this is cold -- colder than yesterday's coffee -- let it be known that the clerk was treated for minor burns and is expected to recover.) I.E., "Boy that coffee must have been strong!" Or, "Buddy, just because you don't like the coffee doesn't mean you have to get vindictive." Or, "Maybe you should have gone to Starbucks!" Or, "Have you considered hot tea instead?" Or -- OK, OK, uncle. Besides, this is no laughing matter, as it's the third time the store's been robbed. Maybe they need to switch to Folger's. Oops, sorry.

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the guy who they think has perpetrated a string of coffee-themed thefts in the Dallas area. His name is Jeremy Don Irvin, and WFAA has a picture of the guy who would dare use a coffee beverage in a destructive manner.

Hey, I'd rather be robbed like this than at Suk-yer-buks with "burned" coffee.

Amazing he was even on the streets.

Is it possible that since he did not use a "deadly weapon" in the robbery that bond requirements are substantially less stringent?
