The BBB put the kibosh on Just Brakes' nefarious practices
FORT WORTH According to a report in the Dallas Business Journal, it appears the Fort Worth chapter of the Better Business Bureau has revoked the BBB membership of all Fort Worth area Just Brakes for what the bureau is calling "bait and switch" tactics.
The most common complaint stemmed from the company's well-popularized $99.88 special. According to the BBB, customers regularly paid up to three times that amount for the advertised brake work.

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info

I beleive that they have broken broken brake calipers on purpose to get the price up.

I had the same experience almost 10 years ago. My $99.88 brake job cost over $500 - I have never had so many things found "wrong" with my brakes as they found. Soon after, a co-worker of mine had the very same thing happen to him.

Actually - I'd like to see a police sting operation against mechanics throughout the DFW area. I just got my car back from Tommy White Automotive and the number of ways they screwed me over are too numerous to list here.
Then, after i paid nearly $1k cash-American - my "check engine" light came on this morning as my wheel bearings were rattling my eyes outta my head.
I just bought the car from VP Automotive - and I'm pretty sure that my inspection sticker was bought, but not earned.

I think the same thing happened to me. I thought it would be $100 but it was definitely more. They wanted to re grind my rotors or whatever it is they do also.
