Blue Bell adds summery “mango” ice cream for summer
They made it work with cantaloupe. Now mango.
Blue Bell Ice Cream introduced a new flavor this spring: mango ice cream.
Mango seems inherently "fruity." It makes you wonder if it would go with dairy. But you have strawberries and cream. Peaches and cream. Blueberry cheesecake.
Now Blue Bell has it, too. If this seems a bit imitative, Blue Bell did previously introduce the unlikeliest fruit + dairy ice cream ever: cantaloupe ice cream, with chunks of cantaloupe in vanilla ice cream. Sounds weird but it had its appeal. Mango sounds like it will be in the same school: "mango ice cream with juicy mango pieces and a mango sauce swirl."
The company is simultaneously re-releasing Buttered Almond, almond ice cream with salted, roasted almond pieces, a flavor it introduced several years back, then benched for a while.
Both flavors are in supermarkets now.
