Las Colinas’ Omni Mandalay Hotel indulges rug rats with over-the-top kiddie suites

3

— Slow time for serious business news, as the DBJ is reporting that five Omni Hotels in Texas, including the Omni Mandalay in Las Colinas, have introduced special kid rooms with colorful sheets, beanbag chairs, board games, books, "cozy" bath robes, aquatic-themed bath accessories, and a "Kids' Sensation Bar" filled with toys, trinkets, and snacks.

The story quotes an Omni VP saying, "We know children can bore easily when traveling." Heaven forbid the children should suffer through even 30 seconds of boredom. Know what makes kids appreciate something special? When it isn't handed to them on a silver platter. Know how to make kids creative? Give them a pencil and paper, not a 32-piece colored pen set with easel and matching beret.

The four other hotels in Texas with these kiddie rooms include Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark; Omni Corpus Christi Hotel; Omni Houston Hotel; and the Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade. Prices run from $249 to $339 per night, plus taxes.

Are adults allowed to stay in these rooms if they don't have kids? B/c I'm all about the bean bag chairs and snacks. Hopefully they have go-gurt.

I second the beanbag chair thing. Staying in hotels for me was always exciting, but if i was bored...i would have to deal with it. Ha.

Kids' Sensation Bar? Is that really the best name they could come up with for that?!
