Voting records Of Texas Republicans show a propensity to screw the middle class
Not a single Texas Republican in Congress has a decent score in supporting pro-middle class legislation.
What do Congressmen John Culberson (R-Houston), Sam Johnson (R-Plano) and Randy Neugebauer (R-Lubbock) have in common? If screwing the middle class was a Congressional sex scandal, they’d all have some mighty wide stances. Both have scores of “zero” when it comes to supporting pro-middle class legislation, according to the Drum Major Institute’s latest ratings published on their snazzy new website, TheMiddleClass.org.
Evidently, screwing the middle class is a pretty good romp, because most Texas Republicans can’t seem to stop doing it. Not a single Texas Republican in Congress had a score you could even consider “decent.” So turn down the lights, put on some soft music, pour yourself a nice glass of wine, and let’s see who’s been screwing the middle class.
Junior Senator John Cornyn scored a whopping 33 percent, meaning he screwed the middle class a full two thirds of the time. Must be exhausting.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was a little more restrained, managing to screw the middle class only about 56 percent of the time. Evidently, constantly posturing for vice presidential and gubernatorial runs made rogering the middle class silly less attractive than it did for some of her colleagues, because she had the highest score of any Texas Republican. That any Texas Republican can only manage a 56 is just sad.
As for Texas’ illustrious GOP Congressmen, Joe Barton (R-Ennis)–busy catering to the polluting interests in his district that give him money to do this, screwed the middle class so much he must be score. He only managed to not screw the middle class 11 percent of the time. Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) joins him with an identical score, Mike Conaway (R-Midland), Jeb Hensarling (R-Dallas), Ralph Hall (R-Rockwall), and Pete Sessions (D-Dallas) screwed the middle class 89 percent of the time as well. With all of that screwing of the middle class, it’s a wonder they can manage to take time out to accept campaign contributions.
Working almost as hard to screw the middle class were John Carter (R-Round Rock), 13 percent; Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth), 25 percent; Michael Burgess (R-Flower Mound), 22 percent; Louis Gohmert (R-Tyler), 38 percent; Kenny Marchant (R-Carrollton), 22 percent; Mike McCaul (R-Austin), 22 percent; Ron Paul (R-Surfside), 29 percent; Ted Poe (R-Beaumont), 14 percent; Pete Sessions (R-Dallas), 11 percent; Lamar Smith (R-Austin), 25 percent; and Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon), 13 percent.
