Houston 38, Southern Methodist University (SMU)
The SMU Mustangs started off strong, but were undone by a terrible second quarter and unable to recover in a 38-28 loss in Houston Sunday night. Up 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs proceeded to completely melt down, giving up 24 points in the second on three touchdowns and a field goal.
Quarterback Justin Willis had his best game in weeks, going 19-for-32 for 350 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Willis also led his team in rushing with 37 yards on 15 carries, with a touchdown, but also three lost fumbles.
The loss drops SMU to 1-8 on the year.
