Shenanigans in Fort Worth’s District 9 election

Fliers of questionable origin try to discourage turnout with the wrong election date

— Tarrant County’s Elections Administrator Steve Raborn announced today that a fraudulent election notice is being distributed in Fort Worth. The flyer has the wrong election date and is falsely identified as coming from the Tarrant County Elections Office. Printed in English and Spanish, the flyer has the Tarrant County Seal and the Elections Office “Tarrant Votes” logo.

The notice states, “Voters wishing to cast their ballots for the State of Texas Constitutional Amendments Election, or for Fort Worth City Council District 9, cast their ballots on the final Election Day, Saturday, November 10th.”

To vote on the actual election day, Tuesday, November 6, get polling place information here.

For more information about the election, call the Tarrant County Election Administration Office at 817-831-VOTE (8683).

This is a classic ploy to keep minorities from voting, ripped right out of the GOP playbook of dirty tricks. These phony fliers often indicate the wrong date for the election, or the wrong polling place. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa... The GOP will usually rely on its doctine of plausible deniability: "It was a misprint, an honest mistake, i swear!" Don't expect anyone to be held accountable for this one, either.
