Four Texas Woman’s University volleyball players - Kandis Schroeder, Katie King, Jessica Crow, and Heather Marcus - have received 2007 Lone Star Conference Volleyball All-Conference Awards.

Schroeder, a junior middle blocker, was picked for the 2007 LSC Volleyball All-Conference first-team. This is the third year in a row that the Windthorst, Texas native has received an LSC honor. In 2005, she was selected as the LSC Freshman of the Year. Last season, she was an All-Conference second team choice. Her 90 total blocks this season (seven block solos/83 block assists) are tied for the TWU team lead and her 269 kills are the second-most on the Pioneers’ roster. She also averages 3.00 points per game, the second-highest total on the TWU squad. A mathematics major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Schroeder (pictured) was also named to the 2007 LSC Volleyball All-Academic Team.

Junior outside hitter Katie King earned a spot on the 2007 LSC Volleyball All-Conference second team. The Kaufman, Texas product has been the Pioneers’ most consistent offensive weapon this year. She leads TWU in kills (323), kills per game (4.36), points (340.5), and points per game (4.60). A family and consumer sciences major with a 3.38 GPA, King was also chosen for the 2007 LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Crow, a sophomore setter, and Marcus, a senior defensive specialist, were both honorable mention All-Conference selections. Crow, who hails from Longview, Texas, has been the catalyst of the Pioneers’ offense this season. She is averaging 10.78 assists per game and has totaled a remarkable 1,003 assists for the year. Her 25 service aces and 250 digs are the third-most on the TWU roster. A kinesiology major with a 3.91 GPA, Crow was also named to the 2007 LSC Volleyball All-Academic Team. Marcus, a native of Grand Prairie, Texas, is the Pioneers’ defensive leader. Her 829 service receptions and 557 digs are the most by any TWU player. She has also collected a team-high 31 service aces this season.

Altogether, a total of 42 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC postseason awards program. West Texas A&M University, which posted a perfect 12-0 record to win the 2007 Lone Star Conference regular season volleyball championship, had a total of six honorees, including the LSC Offensive Player of the Year (sophomore outside hitter Laura Prinsen). Tony Graystone, the Lady Buffs head coach, was selected by his conference volleyball coaching peers as the 2007 LSC Coach of the Year.
