UT Arlington volleyball fell 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-19) at Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday in both teams second-to-last Southland Conference match of the regular season.

Freshman Bianca Sauls led the Mavs with 18 kills and only one error for a .425 hitting percentage, and libero Dani Johnson had a team high 27-digs on the night.

In game one, the Mavs and Ladyjacks traded leads early until UTA took a three-point advantage (15-12) and forced SFA to burn its first timeout. A block from seniors Gina Kalb and Torie Dacus gave the Mavs a four-point lead, but SFA answered with a 7-2 run to take the lead 21-20. From there both teams battled back-and-forth until the Ladyjacks used a 6-3 run to take game one 30-27.

SFA jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in game two, but UTA battled back with a trio of kills from Sauls to cut the Ladyjacks lead to one (13-12). Back-to-back kills by Sauls and a SFA error gave UTA the 16-15 advantage. From there, the Mavs went on a 4-2 run for the three-point lead (20-17).

Teena Sobczak halted a three-point run by the Ladyjacks and Liz Curry added a kill to keep the Mavs up 22-20. However, the Ladyjacks used a 10-5 run to closeout game two with the win, 30-27.

The Ladyjacks won game three 30-19 after taking the 6-3 lead early. UTA answered with three straight points to draw even at 6-6, but SFA went on a 16-6 run to lead by ten (22-12). The Ladyjacks used an 8-7 run to end the match with the 3-0 win.

The Mavs will finish out the regular season at Sam Houston State on Saturday.
