Bush appoints good buddy and former neighbor to run his Dallas-based presidential library

— President Bush appointed Mark Langdale, 54, current ambassador to Costa Rica, to be president of the George W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation at Southern Methodist University, starting January 1.

Langdale is a former next-door neighbor, office-sharer, friend of Bush, and major donor. In the 2000 presidential campaign, he was a "Pioneer," the club of fund-raisers who pledged to raise at least $100,000. He's given hundreds of thousands of $$ to Republican candidates, including $126K to the Republican party and $55K to Bush when he was governor of Texas. A lady who worked in the office that Bush and Langdale shared said they both ate a lot of M&Ms. What do you suppose his nickname is? Ling-Lang? Lang-Dang? Marky-Mark?

You know, if this were the only kind of positions he gave out to his buds I wouldn't mind a bit. He's the prez, he has to get some perks.

I mean, nobody's going to die if this guy screws up.

Rick, I believe you underestimate the capabilities of one person. Marky-Mark could easily burn down the joint, killing whomever didn't make it out.
