DALLAS Four people were stabbed at 1 a.m. Sunday morning at what NBC5 calls a "new" nightclub "along Commerce Street" in Deep Ellum, without identifying name of said nightclub. The four stabbees were taken to hospitals, none of whose conditions were life-threatening.
The officer who answered the phone at the Police Dept. Central Division says she knows nothing about the stabbing, nor a new club in Deep Ellum ("This is my first day here. The officers who work overnight leave at 8 a.m., but none of them said anything about a stabbing."), but an unofficial source says the stabbing took place at the Redblood Club.

Damn, my friend and I kicked around the idea of going to RBC last night. Sounds like we missed the excitement.

Duane Peters Gunfight, Hatred, 13th Victim, Lyin Bitch and the Restraining Orders, Screaming Red, The Scarred, Terrorcharge, Under the Gun, Triggermen... these are some of the bands that play this club.
I know I probably sound like an old fogey(whatever that is) but aren't these kids (sorry) perpetuating the violence and negativity in their lives and society with these violent names?
The more we casually use more violence and negativity in our language, the less sensitive we become to it.
I'm just sayin'.

As someone who frequently goes to RBC, as well as casually knowing the owners and managers, along with the staff and regulars.. I can say you're wrong.

It seems that Rick wasn't necessarily saying that the band titles are the fault of the RBC staff, so I don't want to disagree with him on that point. I will say that, in my opinion, purely opinion, I think band names are just band names. Of course, if a band had some kind of racist reference or supported rape in its title, I may be unsettled by it.
In any case, Clay, I agree with you about the great RBC staff. I went to the venue a few months ago, by myself, and found the staff there to be one of the friendliest in Dallas.
A little tale to support my statement: At the end of the night I ran out of cash from buying a band's CD and had to buy a drink with my credit card. When the bartender explained that there was a $10 minimum for credit cards I said to go ahead and just charge $10 (the drink was only $2). Instead she just gave me the drink. My everlasting guilt notwithstanding, it seemed an uncharacteristic gesture that was actually quite characteristic of the rest of the staff I came into contact with.
I am hoping this unfortunate incident does not affect their SUP result with the council.

I do apologize for that- I in no way meant to say anything negative about the club in the piece. No, I've never even been there.

As for perpetuating the violence.. from what I have read(and again being familiar with the place in question I believe) this incident occurred because undesirable people were asked to leave.
After being thrown out of the club, the people in question started stabbing people.

Allan from Reno's spoke at last night's D.E.E.P. meeting. There's a benefit setup this weekend at Reno's for those that were hurt at Red Blood.
Red Blood has also started talking to the city making sure this isn't going to hurt them with respect to getting their SUP. I'm sure it's going to come up but hopefully the damage to their effort isn't all too great. What happened was most definitely the exception to the rule and not the norm.
