I guess every now and again the City of Dallas likes to prove they care about the environment. This Saturday, Nov. 17, is one of those days. District Five Councilwoman Vonciel Jones Hill is hosting a “Trash Attack” to remove litter and debris along street right-of-ways and major thoroughfares in southern Dallas, while volunteers from Citi Corporation will join Mayor Tom Leppert, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and several community groups in planting 1,000 crepe myrtles, redbuds, Mexican Plum and other trees at White Rock Lake Park, Kiest Park and three other Dallas locations.
That's great and all, and I'm sure the city's going to look a bit better because of their efforts, but how about a more comprehensive recycling program? That way we can be environmentally-conscious more than one day a year.
