Chef Matt Dunn no longer at Dallas restaurant Hibiscus
DALLAS Chef Matt Dunn left Hibiscus restaurant last Friday -- the second departure of a high-profile staffer at the Henderson Avenue restaurant, after the dismissal in late October of sommelier Rudy Mikula.
Founding chef and co-owner Nick Badovinus recently renewed his focus on Hibiscus, after being diverted in recent months by The Porch, the new restaurant he owns with Consilient partner Tristan Simon.
"I felt like what was needed from me six months ago isn’t what was needed now," says Dunn. "But I have nothing but praise for those guys. They were very kind. Nick is very hands-on, always working. If I needed a night off, he would be the one to work the shift for me. I have a lot of respect for that degree of availability."
Dunn was at Hibiscus for a year; he'd previously worked at Stephan Pyles.
