TCU transfers gas lease option to Chesapeake Exploration

Regardless of the lessor, it still smells the same.

As previously reported, the Texas Christian University Board of Trustees chose to "pursue natural gas exploration opportunities" back in August, with Four Sevens Resources Co., Ltd. selected as their gas-pursuing partner.

Yesterday TCU's Office of Communications announced that the lease originally optioned to Four Seasons has been transferred to an outfit called Chesapeake Exploration, LLC of Oklahoma City, OK. Chesapeake is the nation's largest independent producer of natural gas, and - if their site analysis near remote parking on the north end of campus shows pay dirt (or whatever the equivalent would be in terms of gas) - they'll soon be padding those figures.

Chesapeake-eans have also begun filing the paperwork for permits required by the Texas Railroad Commission, which - naturally - administers the gas well permitting process. (Because it makes more sense than having the Dept. of Agriculture administer it - right?)
