Bill O’Reilly lashes out at Mark Cuban over Redacted

Man, Bill is all o'riled up.

Do great minds think alike? (Let's be clear: an argument between these two will shed absolutely no light on the subject.)

Wow, Bill O'Reilly really HATES Redacted, which may or may not have a significant effect on the movie's box office (and who can say which way his high-profile loathing would serve to swing things?); he's even calling for a picket line outside the theaters which show it (as the Magnolia will begin doing on 11/30), manned/womaned by folks carrying "support the troops" placards.

"Texas billionaire Mark Cuban," as Bill refers to him, has produced and is distributing a movie that "will incite anti-American hatred around the world." (Uh oh - this'll be a first.) If this film had come out during WWII, says O'Reilly, "FDR might have incarcerated him; Patton would have slapped the tar out of him."

Bill also wants all loyal-to-the-troops Mavericks ticket holders to bring and display their "support the troops" signs to Mavs games, as a way of sending Mr. Cuban a message. (That message being - in part, at least - "I listen to Bill O'Reilly.")

For his part, Mark Cuban calls Mr. O'Reilly a moron, and responds at some length to the Fox newsman's claim that the movie is "anti-troop" on his blog. (Check the "Update Nov 12" about 1/3 of the way down the page.) He also notes that whatever publicity O'Reilly throws his way is very much appreciated, operating under the old chestnut that all publicity is good publicity.

We screened Redacted Nov. 13 and will post our review on the weekend of its opening.

Bill O'Reilly has not seen this movie so anything he says about it is said out of complete ignorance. I have not seen this film, but I know what Bill is upset about. The film's synopsis states that the stories portray events surrounding an incident that closely resembles this recent news story: http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/10/18/sol...

Common sense tells me that Americans support the troops' dedication and are against raping and killing innocent civilians anywhere. Bill O'Reilly is telling me not to see a film in which the events merely RESEMBLE an actual situation over there.

I know not everyone wants to face reality, and still others may not want to spend two hours watching a fictional account of bad things that one can see on the news. That's fine. But right-wing media hacks inciting protests against art that reflects life? Are there not enough GOOD causes left?

Maybe I can speak to Bill and his followers in a language they CAN understand. "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

DVR'ed it last night via HDNet Movies on D*. It's a very well done movie.

O'Lielly is doing what he always does -- spew crap to enthrall the weak and impressionable, to get them upset about things totally unrelated to the real issues at hand in the world.

Such real issues like there's 33% off women's and kids' items at Nordstrom for the next 3 days....

O’ Reilly is exhibit A when I contend the most dangerous people are those who are 100% ambitious but only 50% bright. O’Reilly; the quintessential (President) Bush leaguer, whose latest storm-that-castle call to arms reminds me of when talk show host and DMN Op-ed columnist Mark Davis 'reviewed' Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'. But like O'Reilly ( I prefer BillUSA99's spelling ‘O’Lielly! ) per 'Redacted', had not in either case bothered to see said movies.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
