Carrolton’s Perry Middle school transforms into Spanish mission
"Mission De La Perry” was dreamed up by a team of educators. Pillaging was kept to a minimum.
For one day last week, the DeWitt Perry Middle School Library transformed into a Spanish Mission.
As students entered “Mission De La Perry,” they played the role of Native Americans, and learned the struggles that the Native Americans faced when confronted by a new language, culture, religion, and way of life during the colonization of North America.
After the first-hand experience of Texas Native American life, the students analyzed and evaluated their new knowledge through discussions and writing. “
"Mission De La Perry” was dreamed up by a team of educators including the Perry's librarian and several teachers.
