Arkansas State 31, University of North Texas (UNT) 27
The UNT Mean Green showed the world why they are a 1-9 team Thursday night, blowing a 21-7 halftime lead en route to losing 31-27 to Arkansas State. To make matters worse, this was quite possibly the best overall effort the Mean Green had given this entire season.
Once a pass-first, pass-second team, UNT actually came out with a balanced attack against Arkansas State, which helped them get out to an early lead. Quarterback Giovanni Vizza went an efficient 21-for-30, but for just 120 yards and one interception. Vizza also ran the ball 18 times for 79 yards.
The rushing attack was led by Micah Mosely, who ran 15 times for 110 yards and one touchdown. Mosley was spotted by Jamario Thomas, who had 11 carries for 66 yards and two scores. As a team, UNT ran for 255 yards and controlled the clock for 34 minutes.
UNT's defense, however, was not up to the task, torched by Arkansas State's passing game for 304 yards and three second-half touchdowns.
