Duncanville authorities to enforce new sex club ordinance

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (13)
An exact copy of the ordinance.

An exact copy of the ordinance.

Duncanville city officials presented the owners and operators of The Cherry Pit with a copy of the city's new anti-sex club ordinance on Friday.

The presence of the club, which runs out of the owner's house on Cedar Ridge Drive & Interstate 20, spurred the first ever ordinance of the kind within the city, which went into effect on November 6th.

The overt sexual nature of The Pit might be doing them in. In truth, the swingers should just change the nature of their operation to a bridge club that just happens to have sex with each other a bunch.

I still wonder what makes it an official sex club. Didn't they mention that they didn't charge anything for admission? At what point does me getting all greased up on a tarp in the living room with twelve other people turn into an official Club?

I trust these are not your Friday night party plans, Pavel.

l2read Pavel.

Per the PegNews article linked above (this one, since you're having troubles):

  • According to the new ordinance, sex clubs include “any premise, person or organization that is presented, advertised Š or provides notification to the public that it is a swinger's club, an adult encounter group or center Š or that provides an opportunity or an invitation to engage in or view sexual activity, stimulation or gratification.”

So, if I rearrange the words like so:

"any ... person ... that ... provides an opportunity or an invitation to engage in ... sexual activity"

Does that mean that any time I take a girlfriend back to my apartment, I'm running a sex club in the eyes of Duncanville law?

Because that's pretty awesome. I'm going to print up a sign.

I think they're saying that's perfectly fine so long as you don't "present, advertise or provide notification to the public" that such activity is going on, or will be going on.

Considering it's a Duncanville city ordinance, and I know for a fact that you do not live in Duncanville, your sign won't be the middle-finger-to-the-law you were hoping for. Move to Duncanville, and you've got yourself a violation...otherwise, stop being a smartass after you were too lazy to even look up their definition in the first place.

Btw, I sincerely hope whatever city you're officially in (won't say which out of respect for your obviously worthless privacy) adopts the same ordinance and you become a registered sex offender.

Oh, I wouldn't print it up to annoy Duncanville.

Just my neighbors.

I understand that.

Doesn't diminish my hopes that you'll be a registered sex offender. Considering you're already toeing the line, it's only a matter of time my friend.

I think my comment has clearly proven that I am cognizant of the laws regulating who I can and cannot legally touch around their "bathing suit area".

Back on topic (he's going to be a sex-offender and you all know it):

When all this mess first came about, I checked out the FAQ's on the Cherry Pit site. There are different sets for couples, single ladies, and single gentlemen.

Cherry Pit wasn't encouraging any donations from ladies, oddly enough, and there was a $50 heavily encouraged "voluntary donation" expected of the gents. If I recall correctly, they made it a point to mention invitations were limited for gents as they discussed the donation...and quite possibly stated (I'm positive it was insinuated) that first-served invites were for guys who donate. $50 per guy to cover food and refreshments? Puh-lease. Sounds like a cost of admission to me.

They've since revised their FAQ section...very interesting that they no longer feel the need to discuss these "donations" any longer.
