The 2007 SMU Mustangs season is, thankfully, almost over

— The SMU Mustangs lost their ninth in a row Saturday afternoon, and their final home game of the season 49-20 to the University of Central Florida Knights. Thankfully, SMU's trainwreck of a season ends next week against Memphis, where the 1-10 Mustangs will put an exclamation point on yet another BCS-free year.

SMU quarterback Justin Willis had another subpar game, going 11-for-24 for 110 yards, two interceptions and no scores. Willis also ran for 35 yards and lost a fumble, before being relieved of duties by Zach Rhodes in the second half. Rhodes went 7-for-14 for 65 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

The real story of the game was the Mustangs' inability to get off the field, giving up 256 yards rushing on 39 carries, a 6.6 yard average. Knights' running back Kevin Smith ran 22 times for 179 yards and three scores.
