Received word from North Texas-based filmmaker Fredrick Wolcott that his AFI-selected (2007) horror film, Beings, has been picked up for distribution by +Entertainment Video - which describes itself as "a leading distributor of programming." While this sounds a bit ominous from an Orwellian standpoint, it means that you can now order a slickly-packaged DVD of this alien POV abduction flick (featuring an organic spaceship replete with creepy membranous sliding doors) for only $16.99.
We first spoke with Fredrick prior to the screening of his movie at the AFI fest; it was a fun and enlightening interview in which we discovered - among other things - that the "UFO community" (i.e., MUFON and their kindred) holds his film in high regard from the standpoint of successfully conveying the tenor - and terror - of the alien abduction experience.
According to our recent correspondence, Frank has completed the first drafts of a couple of new indie film treatments but has tabled work on these to polish up an older script that is garnering studio interest. (All indie filmmakers should have such problems, eh?)
