Road repairs will shut down I-35 Tuesday night in Denton County

Repairs follow the explosion of a tanker truck last Thursday at Lake Dallas that burned the road, causing severe damage.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will complete a full-depth asphalt repair to the southbound I-35E mainlanes after a tanker truck exploded last Thursday at Lake Dallas, burning the roadway and causing severe damage.

The southbound I-35E mainlanes will be closed just south of FM 2181 (Swisher Road), between mile markers 457 and 458, starting at 9 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, to 6 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, in Denton County. Traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads and then back onto the interstate at Lakehill Road.

Traffic control will be provided by the local police department. Message boards have been placed along southbound I-35E to notify motorists of the closure.
