Three Dallas ISD high schools cited as model schools in math and science
DALLAS A study by the Texas Public Policy Foundation found that David W. Carter High School, the School of Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, and Woodrow Wilson High School are among 39 Texas high schools that not only scored well in math and science, but also showed “significant gains” over time.
The report said that these high schools are "shining examples of places where students are achieving success in math and science."
The Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think tank, reviewed scores on TAKS, ACT, and SAT, and Advanced Placement tests to develop the list of 39 high schools in Texas that have been successful in teaching math and science. According to the study released in October, the common traits the model schools have include larger class sizes, higher teacher pay, and more certified teachers.
