Obligatory story on holiday travel but with Dallas data
With actual numbers from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.
People travel during the holidays! If you do a Google search for "Thanksgiving travel," you'll see what I mean: Everyone's talking about Thanksgiving travel.
For example, "AAA expects almost 40 million people will travel more than 50 miles this year." Also, "According to AAA, more than 4.7 million Americans are expected to take to the skies." AAA sure is busy with the predictions; isn't there a car with a dead battery it should be jump-starting right now?
Here's your Texas angle: "Nearly 3.4 million Texans are expected to travel during Thanksgiving weekend, according to a survey released Monday by AAA Texas," (them again); 2.87 million Texans are expected to drive while 329,000 will fly. And Dallas: DFW Airport estimates that 2.2 million passengers will pass through its terminals between November 15 and 27.
Here's the top-5 destinations for Texas travelers, according to a survey of AAA Travel agents:
1. Orlando
2. Cruises out of Galveston
3. Austin/Hill Country
4. New York
5. Las Vegas
