Dallas band Drowning Pool got its gear stolen on Wednesday morning from Universal Rehearsal, its storage space in North Dallas. They just got back after a tour. Many bands store their gear at Universal, so it appears that Drowning Pool was targeted. The theft was caught on video. What's kindof weird is the passive, not-my-fault tone taken by the guy who runs the storage space. Here's his quote: "There are 88 rooms here. They could have broken into any other room. They came to this one, and they came here with bolt cutters." I mean, he's also sympathetic, but wouldn't you expect something like, "We've got the guys on video and we're going to get them," or something like that?

Drowning Pool has insurance, but it only covers musical equipment that is stolen in other cities when the band is on tour. The insurance does not cover equipment that is stored while the band is out of town.
So they insured the stuff that's always with them, but not the stuff they leave unsupervised? If they save years upon years to acquire it, why not insure it? Maybe it was ridiculously costly? Seems strange to me.
