Mike Rawlings left the presidency of Pizza Hut to become managing partner of a private equity firm several years ago. Now, he’s heading up the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance (MDHA) and putting the same energy into that position that he channeled into his high-powered executive jobs.
Furthermore, he has a plan to alleviate downtown Dallas’ homeless problem and transition the approximately 1,000 chronically homeless individuals who occupy local streets into permanent homes. While he isn’t shy about getting out and conversing with the people he's been charged with helping, much of Rawlings’ job involves hobnobbing with county commissioners, corporate leaders and wealthy individuals in an effort to get them to pony up funds.
Rawlings’ official title is Chairman of the MDHA (appointed to that position by former mayor Laura Miller, and supported by current mayor Leppert) but everyone seems to be calling him “Dallas’ homeless czar” – a moniker that he refers to as “stupid.”

Gotta be honest, when I originally read this headline yesterday I mistook it for "Dallas' homeless tackled by Pizza Hut ex-pres". Article was quite disappointing after that.
