UPDATED: Rachael Ray to appear at Williams-Sonoma in Southlake on Saturday Dec. 8
Updated 04:25 p.m., November 29, 2007
SOUTHLAKE Food Network star and media dynamo Rachael Ray will stop in Southlake on Saturday December 8; she's on a tour to promote her new cookbook, Just In Time!, which she'll sign between 2 and 4 p.m. For some clever jokes on 30 minutes and Ray's trademark abbreviation of ingredients such as EVOO for "Extra Virgin Olive Oil", see the entry from our friend Joyce.
UPDATE: This event is sold out. You are still free to go and gaze at R.R. from afar or try to catch a whiff of her scent, but you can't get her autograph.

Rawlins Gilliland says:
FYI; Ray's fee is $100,000.00 plus first class airfare for two to do a public speaking engagement according to the speaker's bureau I spoke with last year. That's a lot of bread (with potted ham/olive tapenade).

that's good dish, rawlins. i was previously not a big RR fan but my perception changed after reading a recent interview with her where she showed a pretty good degree of groundedness, given the level of success she's experiencing. plus a lot of people hate her, so that automatically makes me want to like her

Wow... 100k? Good for her!
The more money that can be removed from Southlake, the better.

Donna Chen says:
Oh I am disappointed. I didn't realize this was a ticketed affair. Not personally a huge RR fan (I don't dislike her either) but autographed copies of her new cookbook were going to make excellent Christmas presents for friends who do love her. Arrgh.

Hey SonyaBlade - is being "round" a good thing or a bad thing?
You know they say don't trust skinny cooks!
I hope the 100K makes up for the fact that she is famous enough to be plastered all over the National Enquirer now. That's gotta suck.

Whatever. Bring Anthony Bourdain here and then that'll be something to celebrate. Of course, Southlake is probably too much of a materialistic sell-out to him. Best of all? He's hated WAY more than Rachel Ray, eschews just about all the "TV chefs" and isn't always faking the perkiness Ray so artificially exudes. In a word, he's real. Not REAL fake.

Fake perky might sometimes be preferable to REAL jerkiness. I mean, it's cooking, that's all! I'm just saying.
