SMU women’s basketball wins fifth straight game
Senior post Janielle Dodds scored 18 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, and sophomore forward Delisha Wills put up a game-high 18 points to lead the SMU women's basketball team to its fifth consecutive win, 66-60, over Stephen F. Austin at Moody Coliseum.
Dodds' double-double leaves her with 1,483 career points, pushing her past former SMU star Shanell Thomas into third place on the all-time SMU scoring list. She now needs 21 points to pass Kerri Delaney for second place all-time.
Wills finished strong, scoring 15 of her 18 points after halftime. Fellow sophomore Jillian Samuels also reached double figures in the scoring column for the Ponies, dropping in 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including three three-pointers.
The Mustangs now head to Denton for a Saturday afternoon showdown with North Texas in a game that can be heard on a tape-delay on KKGM (1630 AM) before returning home next week to host Coppin (Md.) State Dec. 6.
