Out-of-towners such as Oklahomans might have difficulty buying beer at State Fair

3

Uh-oh uh-oh, people who want to get their beer on at the State Fair this weekend might have trouble.

Fair policy requires vendors to ask for ID from anyone who appears to be under 30. If you have an out-of-state ID -- such as, oh, I don't know, say, OKLAHOMA -- the vendors might decide not to take the chance.

This is mostly about the upcoming Texas-OU game. The imperialistic Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is urging everyone to be "vigilant." The State Fair people say that, hum dee dum, nothing has changed re: the fair's policy on alcohol sales.... just that, if a vendor asks for an ID and it's not a Texas ID, the vendor can decide not to serve. It's hard to know which is worse: the idiotic alcohol customs and laws in Texas? Or Oklahomans themselves. (We're not counting Norman.) It's a tough call.

Matt Anderson, says:

Yeah, a bunch of state fair vendors, who have four weeks to rake in a ton of money, are going to turn down a bunch of customers on the biggest day of the year....
