Denton hits the Rock Lottery this weekend at Dan’s Silverleaf

This weekend Dan's Silverleaf will play host to the Denton Rock Lotteries 09 and 10, to take place on Saturday and Sunday. More information from the Rock Lottery official website:
Twenty-five carefully selected musicians meet at 10:00 A.M. at the evening's performance venue. They are a cross-section of the music community with different social and cultural backgrounds, with divergent levels of musicianship and experience. The musicians are organized into five bands through a lottery-based chance selection. The bands depart to different practice spaces and are given 12 hours to create three to five songs (with a one cover-song limit). Each band is asked to create a unified sound while still maintaining the individual styles of the members. At 10:00 P.M., the bands return to the venue and perform their songs in front of a waiting audience.
Saturday's event is a normal Rock Lottery, consisting of 25 musicians who have not yet been involved in the past. Those confirmed to show up thus far are:

While the previous year's Rock Lottery proceeds went to the Save Fry Street Fund (how did that work out?), this year will benefit the Denton County African American Museum. Single day admission to just the evening performances are $10. For early admission to each day, which includes the morning selection and breakfast as well as the evening performance is $15. Or, if you're so inclined, you can purchase a two-day, full-day admittance for $25.
