Irving’s Elliott Elementary kicks off “Literature on the Lawn” reading program
Elliott Elementary School in Irving recently began a reading program called "Literature on the Lawn." Each month, the school picks a book for third, fourth and fifth graders to read (if they choose, of course).
On the last week of a given month, students and teachers meet in the courtyard during lunch on unfurled picnic blankets and share their thoughts and personal reflections about what they have read.
September's book picks were Tomas & the Library Lady by Pat Mora, Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, and There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom by Louis Sachar. Two of the books were available in both English and Spanish.
P.S. The school is actually located on 1900 Story Road, so, can't really say you didn't see this coming.
