38th Annual USA Film Festival announces dates, calls for entries

DALLAS – The 38th annual USA Film Festival will be held in Dallas, April 24-May 1, 2008, at Dallas-area theater locations to-be-announced.
The eight-day event will feature the best new independent short and feature films from around the world, along with special tributes, the Academy-qualified National Short Film and Video Competition and discussions with visiting filmmakers.
The USA Film Festival will continue its tradition of presenting a diverse schedule of activities during Festival Week, including retrospectives and tributes to artists who have made outstanding individual contributions to American film.
The Great Director Tribute
- Previous recipients have included: Robert Benton, Milos Forman, Michael Apted, Arthur Penn, Alan J. Pakula, Norman Jewison, Wim Wenders, William Friedkin, Stanley Donen, Sydney Pollack, Paul Schrader, Robert Altman, Chuck Jones, Martin Ritt, Alan Rudolph, John Cassavetes, Rouben Mamoulian, Sidney Lumet, Stanley Donen, Frank Capra and George Cukor.
Special Tributes

DEADLINES:
The deadline for feature film submissions is March 1, 2008. There are no fees or forms required to submit a feature film (60+ minutes) to the 38th Annual USA Film Festival. Filmmakers should send a DVD or VHS cassette (NTSC format) with cover letter (and press kit, if available) to: Program Coordinator, USA Film Festival, 6116 N. Central Expressway, Suite 105, Dallas, TX 75206.
The deadline for short film entries in the 30th Annual National Short Film & Video Competition is March 1, 2008. The competition is open to short films (under 60 minutes) produced in the United States. An Entry Form is required. To receive an Entry Form, filmmakers should call the USA Film Festival at 214-821-FILM or visit the Festival’s website at www.usafilmfestival.com.
Filmmakers may also submit to the USA Film Festival and the National Short Film and Video Competition via Withoutabox (www.withoutabox.com).
The USA Film Festival is a Dallas-based 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in the film and video arts. The Festival’s YEAR-ROUND events include KidFilm (the oldest and largest children’s film festival in the United States), film premieres, special programs, and the USA Film Festival, held each spring.
The USA Film Festival is supported, in part, by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.
