Concert Review: Suzy Bogguss at Granada Theater

Dallas got a little taste of Nashville from Suzy Bogguss Wednesday night. Suzy and her band of talented musicians played to an intimate crowd of about 200 fans at Greenville Avenue's Granada Theater. Local favorite Darryl Lee Rush warmed the night up and entertained the crowd with rock & roll covers with a country twist followed by a few originals like, "White Trash Paradise."

Next, Ms. Bogguss and the boys took us on a journey that followed her career from start to the present. She sang songs from her Moment of Truth album to her new release Sweet Danger, which has what she called a "poetry slam" tune, "No Good Way To Go." She changed things up along the way with her renditions of "Somewhere Between" (Merle Haggard), "If You Leave Me Now" (Chicago), and a swing-style song by Duke Ellington. After Wednesday night's performance, Ms. Bogguss shows that she still has what it takes to put on a great show.
