UPDATED: Four DFW sex offenders using MySpace arrested
As part of a larger investigation into sex offenders on MySpace.com, four DFW area sex offenders were among 14 people arrested for using the internet, which is a violation of their parole. Authorities acknowledge that they have no proof those arrested used MySpace for nefarious purposes, but say that just the use of the internet was enough to violate their parole.
In a statement that may belie my age, I have never understood the appeal of MySpace, and this is just one more reason not to bother with it.
UPDATED: Here are the details on the four area men arrested (click on their names for fun footage of their arrests!):
• Michael Ray Barnette, 47, arrested Sept. 5 in Dallas; convicted in Tarrant County in 1992 of driving while intoxicated and public lewdness.
• James William Boyd, 47, arrested Sept. 5 in Fort Worth; convicted in Tarrant County in 1984 of aggravated sexual assault.
• Mike Edward Calloway, 41, arrested Sept. 5 in Haltom City; convicted in Tarrant County in 1997 of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
• Daniel Joseph Marcotte, 46, arrested Sept. 6 in Arlington; convicted in Tarrant County in 1995 of sexual assault of a child.
