— The lineup of new businesses for Fry Street in Denton is falling into place and includes branches of Snuffers, Chipotle, CafĂ© Brazil, and Juice It Up, a smoothie place.

The area was demolished in June to make way for Fry Street Village, a new complex that'll also see a CVS store and the return of More Fun Comics & Games, one of Fry Street's original tenants.

Right now, things are on hold as Denton's Planning and Zoning Commission reviews the Houston developer's request for a drive-through lane at CVS so that prescription holders may procure their drugs in a more timely manner than having to actually walk into the pharmacy and wait at the counter. The Save Fry Street group is protesting because it fears that a drive-through might not mesh with the street's pedestrian vibe. One guy from the Save Fry Street group sat outside another CVS to count how many cars hit the drive-through lane. But CVS is the anchor tenant of the complex. Without the CVS there is no complex, and the developer will walk and Denton will be stuck with a run-down hole in the middle of town.
