Texas State Fair holds waffle-eating contest on Sunday
Three out-of-towners won the top three spots in the third annual Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship held at the State Fair of Texas Sunday afternoon.
Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, 21, of Chicago, won first place, $3,500, and a champion's belt for eating 29 waffles in the designated 10 minutes. Second place went to Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, 23, of San Jose, Calif., who won $2,000 for eating 28 1/2 waffles. Third place went to Timothy "Eater X" Janus, of New York, who consumed 21 1/4 waffles.
A dozen people competed in the event, sanctioned and coordinated by the International Federation of Competitive Eating Inc.

29 waffles in 10 minutes? It would make me feel awful to eat that many waffles. It should be unlawful! (Hey, not bad! Maybe I could be the next Dr. Seuss!!!)
