City of Dallas buying up, more often condemning, land for Trinity River Corridor Project

— In its effort to acquire land for the planned Trinity River Corridor Project, the city of Dallas has been buying and condemning property along the Trinity River -- with a fancy-shmancy 5+-megabyte PDF map created by the DMN showing twice as many condemnations as outright purchases.

Some property owners are balking and getting a bigger payoff. Charles Remy Taylor, for example, got $4.52 million instead of the $2.55 million he was offered. Alas, the DMN names only a couple of names of the various property owners, although it does say that some owners died without a will, owed back taxes, or filed for bankruptcy.
