James Walton is the owner of Able Walton Machine & Welding in the Ledbetter area of Dallas. On Sunday morning, an intruder broke into his place of business (where he also lives) and Walton shot at the man, Jimmy Gannon of Ferris. This is the second time in three weeks that Walton has shot and killed a potential burglar. Both incidents have been referred to a grand jury for review.

Aaron Johnson, says:

Why have they been referred to a grand jury if the incendents happened on his property and the person was an intruder?

Rawlins Gilliland, says:

If anyone but me saw the shocking 'interview' that FOX 4 'reporter' Rebecca Aguilar did as this man cried in his car, you had to have been as horrified as I to see her taunt him like he had a blood lust, try to expose his face despite his fears of retaliation, ignoring his pained comment that he had never suffered this kind of emotion "even when (I) was in the (military) service".

NO one is more anti gun and anti violence than I, but this poor man is pure and simple a terrified victim who could no longer protect himself conventionally when these men kept on coming like drinks at happy hour.

Aguilar should be sanctioned if not fired and the man should be left in peace. AFTER receiving a written and public apology from the Station Manager of DFW FOX 4 affiliate.

In response to the first commenter's question, it is my understanding (backed up by this NBC 5 news report about the intruder shot at Joe's Cleaners), that such cases are referred to a grand jury as a matter of standard procedure, even if no charges are likely to be filed.

Rawlins Gilliland, says:

I hate to see anyone derail their career, and wish Aguilar no harm. But that said, I am proud of Fox for stepping up and kicking her out for hands down vigilante vulgarity.

Wanta guess how differently she would have spun this 'expose' had this been, for instance, a story about a Mexican-American woman shooting and killing a break-and-enter male trying to rape her. Twice in three weeks?

Props to 'D' FrontBurner Trey Garrison for tossing the grenade that blow this up instead of over.
