Texas Wesleyan’s Cubrilo named men’s soccer player of the week
Texas Wesleyan University’s Leo Cubrilo has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the week for the period of October 8-14. Cubrilo shared the honor with Northwood University’s (TX) Marcos Diaz.
Cubrilo, a freshman forward from Sarajevo, Bosnia, accounted for two goals as the Rams won three conference matches last week. He booted in the first goal in a 3-0 win over Bacone College (OK) and netted the game-winner in a 3-2 victory at Northwood. The three wins vaulted the Rams fourth to second place in the conference standings at 4-1-1. They are 8-6-2 on the season.
Diaz tallied five points in a 1-1 week for Northwood.
The Rams will play their final regular season game on Saturday, October 20, when they host College of the Southwest. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities. Texas Wesleyan will be hosting the RRAC tournament October 26-29, at Martin Field.
