McCurley, Orsinger named top Family Law attorneys in Texas

DALLAS — Mike McCurley and Richard R. Orsinger, name partners at the Family Law firm of McCurley Orsinger McCurley Nelson & Downing, L.L.P., have earned selections among the top five Family Law attorneys in the state by Texas Lawyer newspaper. Mr. Orsinger was placed at the top of the list in Texas Lawyer as the state’s top Go-To lawyer in Family Law.

To compile its “Go-To Guide,” Texas Lawyer editors asked attorneys across the state who they would turn to if they were in need of Family Law assistance. After compiling the nominations, the editors conducted their own research and interviews to determine the top five lawyers in Family Law, as well as 28 other practice areas.

This is the second edition of Texas Lawyer’s “Go-To Guide” and the second selection for both Mr. McCurley and Mr. Orsinger, each of whom earned selection among the top five Family Law attorneys in the inaugural guide in 2002. Then, Mr. McCurley was identified by the state’s leading legal newspaper as the state’s best Family Law attorney. The 2007 edition was distributed along with the Oct. 8 issue of Texas Lawyer.

In his profile, Mr. Orsinger was described as “probably the smartest person I know” by one of his colleagues. The profile also details the hectic pace of his practice, which includes both Family Law and Civil Appellate work.

“Being selected as Texas’ Go-To lawyer in Family Law is a great honor,” says Mr. Orsinger. “Earning the respect of peers across the state is, in my case, proof that hard work, combined with close study of the intricacies of the law, is appreciated by my fellow practitioners at the Bar.”

Mr. McCurley agreed, adding, “There are some honors that are more personally meaningful to you for one reason or another. This is one of those for both Richard and me because it starts with peer nominations and incorporates months of research from such a respected publication.”

In the “Go-To Guide,” Mr. McCurley was described as “hands down” the “best Family Law attorney in Texas,” and “incredibly good” in the courtroom.

No strangers to accolades, earlier this year Mr. McCurley and Mr. Orsinger both were recognized in the Texas Super Lawyers list, as well as among the state’s Top 100 lawyers, by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Media Inc. They also were named among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America and both have earned selection to “The Best Lawyers in America” list for 2008.
