University of Dallas men’s soccer makes top ten in regional rankings

Crusaders have jumped off to a 9-1-1 start to the season.

The 9-1-1 Crusaders are ranked 10th in the latest NCAA/adidas® Regional Rankings. Junior forward Adam Lunger (Keller, TX/Keller H.S.) leads the UD offense with 30 points on 13 goals, 2 assists, and 5 game winning scores. Senior captain and forward Brandon Washatka (Topeka, KS/Hayden H.S.) has 4 goals and leads the team with 8 assists. He is second on the team with 16 points. Junior midfielder Stuart Brown (Boerne, TX/Boerne H.S.) is third on the team with 15 points on 6 goals and 3 assists. Brown has 2 game winning scores.

Defensively, senior goalkeeper Mike Hasson (Fairfax, VA/Trinity at Meadowview H.S.) started the year in goal and recorded a 2-0-1 record and 1 shutout before injuring his arm. Junior goalkeeper Chris Sumcizk (Grapevine, TX/Nolan Catholic H.S.) has filled in admirably for the injured Hasson with a 6-1-0 record in 716:37 minutes. Sumcizk has recorded 39 saves and 3 shutouts, while the team has recorded 5.

Trinity University of San Antonio, TX is ranked number 1 in the poll with a record of 13-0. Dominican University (IL) ranks second followed by Washington University (MO), Centre College (KY), the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Wheaton College (IL), Elmhurst College (IL), the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Principia College (IL), and the University of Dallas.
