Two Dallas students who baked marijuana muffins sentenced to probation

4

Ian McConnell Walker and Joseph Tellini, the high school students who baked marijuana into muffins and brought them to the Lake Highland High School teachers' lounge as a senior prank in May 2006, were sentenced on Friday. As part of a plea deal, Tellini will serve probation for seven years; Walker will serve two years of deferred adjudication probation. Both will also perform community service at a homeless shelter and pay $13,000 in restitution. Tellini was the mastermind who baked 40 muffins using a recipe he found on the Internet; Walker delivered them to the lounge. The Houston Chronicle says that 18 employees were hospitalized; the DMN says it was 19 teachers and other employees who ate the muffins and complained of dizziness, dry mouth, unsteadiness, and impaired speech.

Rick Yost, says:

Yeah, and I'll bet they were laughing at random, and jonesin' for twinkies.

Some of the teachers back in my high school days could have used a good buzz- would have improved their personalities greatly.

And c'mon, unless the kids put something really dangerous in the muffins- it's just pot, it's not going to hurt you. Eighteen people going to the hospital is a little silly. Sit down, relax, have a cookie.

Alex Bentley, says:

Come on, Teresa, this story was perfectly set up to use "baked" as a joke, like "Students bake pot muffins to get teachers baked." You whiffed, T-Gubbs. :)

Scott Doyle, says:

Alex, gotta say...your headline writing skills don't seem superior to TG's by any means. I'm here from the Department of Redundancy department to stamp out, eliminate, and abolish such criticism.
