UTA women’s tennis competes at ITA Regionals

Sophomore Sofya Lifanova picked up the only win of the day for UT Arlington women's tennis at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships.

Lifanova battled back after dropping her first set 3-6 to win 7-5, 1-0(5) over Texas Tech's Ingrid Ballus.

Monika Hadvigerova lost in three sets, 7-6(5), 0-6, 1-0(7) to UT-Pan American's Julia Crine-Lima in the North Consolation Bracket. Junior Sara Pesic battled 7-6(4), 3-6, 14-12 eventually falling to Maria Andres from Texas Tech.

Julia Cirne-Lima (UTPA) def. Monika Hadvigerova (UT Arlington), 7-6(5), 0-6, 1-0(7)

WEST CONSOLATION

Maria Andres (Texas Tech) def. Sara Pesic (UT Arlington), 7-6(4), 3-6, 14-12

DOUBLES

Gutierrez/Martinez (Lamar) def. Hadvigerova/Jagosova (UT Arlington), 2-3 ret.
