TCU doubles tennis team advances to semifinals

The top-seeded TCU duo of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska won on Monday to reach the doubles semifinals, while Nina Munch-Soegaard fell in the singles semifinal round to complete the fourth day of play for the TCU women's tennis team at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championship.

The top-seeded TCU duo of Harkins and Sydorska won their third match of the tournament after defeating No. 4 Dubova and Hedberg of LSU, 8-6. Ranked No. 14 nationally, Harkins and Sydorska will face the No. 4 seeded Texas A&M duo of Blagodarova and Clifford on Tuesday. Sydorska will make her third consecutive doubles semifinal appearance at the Southwest Regional Championship, as the TCU junior has claimed the title the past two seasons.

No. 5 Munch-Soegaard defeated Christi Liles of Texas A&M by a score of 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 to enter the semifinal round. Munch-Soegaard went on to fall to No. 2 Lenka Broosova of Baylor, 6-2, 6-3. Before the loss, Munch-Soegaard had won four matches in the tournament, and nine consecutive matches dating back to The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational where the Amarillo, Texas, native claimed the singles championship.

TCU freshman Idunn Hertzberg fell to LSU's Tiffany Tucker in the singles consolation west draw quarterfinals on Monday by a score of 6-4, 7-6(2). Hertzberg and Andrea Morgado also lost in the third round of the doubles consolation draw to Baylor's Bielikova and Chmelarova, 9-8(5).
