Fort Worth woman suing city over gas drilling permit
Melissa Kohout says city violated own drilling ordinance in giving high-impact drilling permit to Chesapeake Energy.
FORT WORTH Fort Worth citizen Melissa Kohout sued the city Wednesday over the permit they gave Chesapeake Energy to drill for gas along the Trinity River. Kohout alleges that the city gave Chesapeake preferential treatment when they gave the company a high-impact drilling permit, which allows for drilling near parks, among other things, even though Chesapeake hadn't asked for such a permit. In doing so, Kohout says the city violated their own drilling ordinance and also prevented citizens from being able to protest them doing so.
