Did you wet your pants when I said boo? Could you anyway to make me feel better?

It's the weekend before Halloween, as though you needed the reminder, and you're trying to figure out what the hell to do. Let's see, you could follow the masses to some kitsch night club to watch the parade of scantily clad nurses and naughty teachers, and the twenty or so guys wearing a black shirt that reads "COLLEGE" on the front. Or you could not be a douche bag, and check out some of the Halloween-inspired (and non-Halloween-inspired) shows taking place around town.
Friday
Robert Miguel's Screamphest 2007: This event is packed with so many of DFW's scariest metal and industrial acts, the promoters brains are so blown they can't even spell the event title right; a surefire sign of a successful event. Among the names on this concert's lineup are LaME, who granted Pegasus News an interview last year, and Bless the Broken, photographer and reviewer Kenneth Smith's favorite local band (see a recent BTB photo gallery to the right).
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead: This Austin band will be playing in the relatively intimate setting of Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio. Don't let the word "dead" in the title confuse you, whereas their sound used to be a little harder, their latest album experiments with all different instruments and arrangements. This is far and away one of DFW's best shows tonight.
Of course, if national acts are your thing, then the Black Crowes and Buffalo Killers will be playing Nokia.
Saturday
Starting at 6 p.m., the Dead Dog Saloon out near Seagoville will be hosting the Southern Helloween Bash featuring Fallen South, Razorblade Dolls, Verdict of Vengeance and more. If you've never been to the Dead Dog Saloon, it's pretty much just a barn with a small bar, which means, of course, it's probably the coolest, high school throwback event in DFW on Saturday. Only this time you are old enough to drink.
If you like your Halloween with blues music, then head down to Pearl at Commerce for the Halloween Costume Party with Kathy Prather. According to the Pearl website: "Kathy Prather made her public singing debut in 1982 in Dallas with local legend Robert Lee Kolb and the Local Heroes. Always willing to sit in with local favorites, she has been known to jump on stage with Kenny Lee Lewis (Steve Miller Band), Greg Martin (Kentucky Headhunters), Ed King (formerly with Lynyrd Skynyrd), or Jack Sonni (Dire Straits). Lately, Kathy performs in the Dallas area with the Hash Brown Band and many other great guitarists." Cover is $5.
Then again, you could always go see Willie Nelson, Pat Green, and The Old 97's at the Smirnoff Music Centre or Maroon 5 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Sunday
The best place to be on Sunday is at Club Dada for the Beard-afit to benefit Dada doorman, John "Beard" Brewer. The lineup features David Garza, Mr. Pink, Shanghai 5, The Hochimen, and more starting at 1 p.m. Families are welcome. After all that Halloween fun Friday and Saturday, repent on Sunday by giving to a good man and a good cause.
As always, be sure to check out the Pegasus Picks and all our events to see what's happening this and every weekend in DFW.
