This Friday and Saturday, the Mesquite Service League will be hosting "Cowgirl Christmas," a holiday market charity event at the Mesquite Rodeo Center Exhibit Hall.
"Cowgirl Christmas - A Holiday Market"
- When: Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Where: Mesquite Championship Rodeo, 1818 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite
- Cost: $5
- Age limit: All ages
"We have over 200 vendors selling their wares, and we need people to come out here and buy for a good cause," said Marlene Childs, former MSL President and long-time member.
The funds raised will go toward the MSL's future projects.
The League has a long history of involvement with Mesquite. Over the years, they funded the first literacy program at the Mesquite Public Library, which continues today; purchased vans for the New Beginnings Center, a place for battered women and children; funded and built playground equipment made especially for handicapped children; donated to the Mesquite Special Olympics, and so on.
Show your support for those who support your community.
Full disclosure: Marlene Childs is the author's beloved grandmother.
