Three AFI Dallas recommended films opening in regular release this weekend

... and PegNews scores a movie review trifecta.

Maybe you'd like to nab a free pass to the sad and beautiful movie Bella, selected as a centerpiece film during the inaugural run of the AFI Dallas International Film Festival earlier this year. If indeed you do, RSVP right away to trey.bowles@trivate.com so they can put you on the list; the free screening happens Sat. (Oct. 27) at 8 p.m. at the Cinemark 17 on Webb Chapel. If you miss the chance to see it for free, then drop a couple dimes on admission (and popcorn, and overpriced drinks) and take in the movie at one of these fine movie-showing establishments. You won't be sorry, as this review suggests. Want red carpet pictures of the acting lead? No problem.

Also opening this Friday (Oct. 26) is the dramatic and uplifting biopic chosen as the festival opener: Music Within. Ron Livingston stars as real-life hero-type guy Richard Pimentel who faced adversity and turned it into lemonade. (Or something like that.) Here's the lowdown. Oh, and you can feast your eyes on some red carpet photos of some of the stars and filmmakers by traipsing over to this link. (A glimpse of delicious co-star Melissa George is worth the mouse click, trust me.)

Last but by no means least, also opening on Friday (Oct. 26) is Park, about which we posted only last night (Oct. 25). It's certifiably funny, employing elements of wish fulfillment and comeuppance in a totally non-scenic southern California setting. We also interviewed the film's native Dallas director.

Have fun at the movies this weekend - you hear me now?
