IRVING The Dallas Cowboys apparently have seen enough already, showering new quarterback savant Tony Romo with a 6 year, $67 million contract with $30 million in guaranteed money. After relieving an ineffective and immobile Drew Bledsoe in a game early last year, Romo has led the Cowboys to a 12-5 record, dominated the NFC statistically and infused Cowboys Nation with more excitement than at any time since the mid-1990s.
The new deal is the third-highest contract for a quarterback, behind only Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer, and makes Romo the highest-paid quarterback in the NFC.
An undrafted backup out of Division AA college, Romo did not throw a single pass in his first 52 games as a Cowboy, but has dominated the league ever since, and has willed his 2007 team to a 6-1 record thus far.

I am happy for Tony Romo. He is a persanable guy who has been patient and has worked for the position. He had alot of people in front of him who had the job that were horrible. He knew what he had to do to get the job, even when there was no contract that was pending he took the team to 6-1. That is the work of a professional, not a thug. Congrats Tony, you're a helluva guy and this team needs someone that they can hang their hat on and you're it. Enjoy the money, enjoy the notoriety but most of all please don't stop shaking hands and saying hello to the fans. They love you. Good job.
