Toxicology test on deceased Dallas musician Carter Albrecht could not confirm presence of Chantix
It did find that his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
DALLAS The final medical report came in on Dallas musician Carter Albrecht, who was accidentally shot by a neighbor on September 3.
The report will be a disappointment to friends and family who hoped that a no-smoking drug called Chantix was the cause of his behavior. But the report did not show any drugs in his system, including Chantix. Part of the problem lay with the fact that Dallas County has no test for the drug and was unable to find a lab that tests for it. Pfizer, the manufacturer, sent the city instructions on how to develop a test, but its 2- to 3-day shelf life made testing difficult. Reports did show a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit.
