University of Dallas men’s soccer wins season finale
The UD men's soccer team prevailed over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers Tuesday night, 2-1 to win their season finale. Freshman midfielder/forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, CO/Niwot H.S.) had one of the goals, while junior forward Gabe Barkley (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls H.S.) added the other.
The Crusaders finished the regular season 15-1-1, and on an 8-game winning streak. The team’s previous high was a 7-game winning streak that was started after a season opening tie to Austin College. The streak was snapped after a 1-2 loss to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO, the only defeat of the season.
The Crusaders next 2 games are a part of the Association of DIII Independents Men’s Regional Soccer Championship beginning on Saturday, November 3rd in Poultney, VT. The team faces Green Mountain College in day 1 of competition, and then faces either Mitchell College or the University of Maine Presque-Presque Isle in the consolation or championship game. The Sunday, November 4th consolation game is scheduled to start at 11:00am, while the championship game is slated for 1:30pm. UD earned the top seed in the tournament.
